Rock Climbing and Mental Strength

A person rock climbing on a steep cliff with rocky mountains in the background.

As a Licensed Psychologist, trauma specialist, and Certified Single Pitch Instructor through the American Mountain Guides Association, Dr. Dragonette brings psychological expertise and firsthand experience to her work with the climbing community.

Climbing can bring us into direct contact with fear, uncertainty, frustration, self-doubt, and trust in relationships. Her work with climbers focuses on mental strength, nervous system regulation, performance, fear, resilience, relationships, trauma, and loss.  Dr. Dragonette works closely with climbers both on and off the wall, to understand and navigate the psychological patterns that impact climbing. She provides workshops and trainings focused on mental strength, performance mindset, and resilience for rock climbers of all levels. She is also the Mental Strength Training Coach for Session Climbing in Santa Rosa, CA, working with their competitive climbing teams as well as the general population.

Dr. Dragonette is a clinical provider through the American Alpine Club's Climbing Grief Fund, providing specialized support for climbers navigating trauma and loss.  The Climbing Grief Grant offers financial support for individuals directly impacted by grief, loss, and/or trauma related to climbing, ski mountaineering or alpinism.

Dr. Dragonette is also a member of the International Association of Psychologists in Climbing, an organization dedicated to advancing psychological knowledge, education, and mental health for climbers, coaches, federations, and professionals in climbing.
